Essay Topics For the Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
Essay Topics For the Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison'Blue Like Jazz' by Toni Morrison is one of those books I've read that's good enough to be a staple in my reading rotation. I really recommend it to anyone who's ever wondered what could possibly make a book of such personal importance to the author, able to draw such attention from other writers and publishers as well.Blue Like Jazz by Toni Morrison (1978) centers on six grade school students and their respective essays titled 'Jazz', 'Hoop Dreams'Looking Glass.' The essay topics for the Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison series was first published in a two-issue series that was printed in the fall of 1978.This two-part series helped usher in a new style of children's literature and this alone should be reason enough to read this wonderful essays. Fortunately, I found that Morrison wrote about the Jazz and Looking Glass for each year and she did an excellent job of matching the sequence to the theme of each year. The first year's theme was Jaz z, with which the reader is introduced to Jazz Jennings. Jazz is described as having fair skin, blonde hair, blue eyes, strong legs, high cheekbones, flat chest, a curvaceous waist, long legs, blue eyes, and three rings that signify her respect for the male gender. The second year's theme was Looking Glass, which is a description of the narrator's new friend, the girl with the red hair. The main character's name is Emma Molesley, and she also has a fixation with hair color and is devastated when her hair is cut short. Her house contains a bell on the floor that attracts flies and she also holds a lantern so she can read books while she is out walking. For the last year, 'The Blue', the topic was a mystery. It seems that the author may have had an extensive plot line developed over the course of the year, but she was unable to fit everything into the original 20-page first draft. As you can imagine, the editors of the series did the best job possible to select the essay topics and adapt ing them to fit with the opening of each novel. It should be noted that Morrison did an excellent job of balancing the emotion that her theme conveyed with the amount of detail in each essay, which makes them much more useful in an essay writing assignment than a reading comprehension assignment. If you're not familiar with Jean-Francois Aumont, a French journalist, he wrote the screenplay for National Treasure (2020) and also served as the film editor for the 1999 film, Mystic River. You can buy his most recent novel, 'Ember,' here.
